Heart Mantra Foundation Needs Your Caring Heart
(1). Much-needed medications and medical supplies for our September volunteer medical/social service trek to the rural Lake Phoksundo region, Dolpo, Nepal. We are limited in the weight we can carry as we trek through the Himalayas to reach this remote area. The medical supplies need to be ordered/purchased in advance and delivered via horse/mule or yak to our clinic at 12,000 ft.
(2) Appeal to Purchase a Laptop Computer for Phoksundo Health Post, which is located in one of the most remote and high-altitude Himalayan regions of Nepal. This health post has been dedicated to providing essential healthcare services to the local community. The laptop is urgently needed to improve the administrative functions of the government reporting system:
Samar Parash Shahi, who is the In Charge Representative of the Post, shared with us:
• “Geographical Challenges and Manual Reporting: Due to the extremely rugged terrain and lack of infrastructure, our staff is forced to travel long distances on foot every month just to submit physical reports to the rural municipality center. This causes immense loss of time, effort, and scarce resources.
• Implementation of DHIS-2 System: The Government of Nepal has recently mandated that all monthly health reports must be submitted digitally through an online system called DHIS-2 (District Health Information Software).
• Lack of Technological Resources: Unfortunately, our health post currently does not possess any computer or laptop to run this digital system and enter the monthly data.
A laptop would end our struggle with manual reporting and empower us to provide more efficient, technology-driven healthcare management for the region.”
